Alternative Energy Design

Markets + Services > Services

Alternative energy is energy which does not use up natural resources or harm the environment such as such as Solid Waste, Liquid Waste, Co-generation and Fuel Cells.

Alternative energy needs are rapidly increasing with the rise in price and growing concern over the economic & environmental impact of traditional fossil fuels, landfills, sewage and industrial waste. Omega provides an innovative approach which incorporates alternative energy technologies, together with energy efficiency strategies, to provide customers with long-term, sustainable and complete solutions.

Omega's alternative energy services include for design, engineering, products, procurement, construction, construction management, operation & maintenance of alternative energy technology. Omega also guarantees the related energy production which reduces customer risk as well as providing an increase in energy security.

Omega's approach is to design alternative energy technology as an integral part of a customer's complete energy efficiency solution. Prior to deploying alternative energy technology, Omega recommends performing a feasibility study and energy audit to identify existing energy savings opportunities such as lighting, equipment, windows, insulation and other infrastructure efficiency upgrades, which when implemented will generally render enough savings to assist in paying for installation of alternative energy technology. Once paid off, the installed alternative energy technology will render additional energy savings to the customer for duration of the renewable energy equipment lifetime, which is generally around 15-20 years.

Omega helps the customer evaluate the best energy efficiency measures and the most attractive alternative energy technology for specific locations and available resources.

Omega provides alternative Technology solutions in the following areas:

  • Municipal Solid Waste to Energy Plants: Conversion of Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) to either Heat, Steam, SynGas, BioGas and/or Electricity using Pyrolysis, Gasification, Plasma-Arc, Anaerobic Digestion or Combustion energy conversion processes.
  • Liquid Waste to Energy Plants: Conversion of Municipal Liquid Waste (Sewage) & Industrial Liquid Waste to either Heat, Steam, SynGas, BioGas and/or Electricity using Pyrolysis, Gasification, Plasma-Arc, Anaerobic Digestion or Combustion energy conversion processes.
  • Biodiesel to Electric Generator Plants: Conversion of Biodiesel to Electricity using Combustion Engine and Generator sets.
  • Hydrogen Fuel Cell Electric Plants: Conversion of Hydrogen (derived from may sources) can be converted to electricity by the use of Fuel Cells.

American’s throw away about 3.5 pounds of trash each day per person. For the total US population that equals to around 492,488 tons per day!

A large amount of garbage is either incinerated or buried in landfills. About a quarter is currently recycled. We are running out of landfill space for garbage.

Garbage landfills contribute to green house gasses, diseases and effectively destroy local landscape.

Alternative energy solutions van generate around 33kWe of power from 1 ton per day of Municipal Solid Waste (Garbage) providing enough energy to power 10 average houses per day.

If all the garbage generated in the US per day was converted to energy we would have enough power to provide the energy for around 5 Million homes per day.

About 200 million gallons of used motor oil is illegally dumped in the US each year. This oil could be properly disposed of and turned into electrical energy.
