Renewable energy is energy which comes from natural resources such as sunlight, wind, rain, tides, and geothermal heat, which are renewable (naturally replenished).

Renewable energy needs are rapidly increasing with the rise in price and growing concern over the economic & environmental impact of traditional fossil fuels. Omega provides an innovative approach which incorporates renewable energy technologies, together with energy efficiency strategies, to provide customers with long-term, sustainable and complete solutions.

Omega's renewable energy services include for design, engineering, products, procurement, construction, construction management, operation & maintenance of renewable energy technology. Omega also guarantees the related energy production which reduces customer risk as well as providing an increase in energy security.

Omega's approach is to design renewable energy technology as an integral part of a customer's complete energy efficiency solution. Prior to deploying renewable energy technology, Omega recommends performing a feasibility study and energy audit to identify existing energy savings opportunities such as lighting, equipment, windows, insulation and other infrastructure efficiency upgrades, which when implemented will generally render enough savings to assist in paying for installation of renewable energy technology. Once paid off, the installed renewable energy technology will render additional energy savings to the customer for duration of the renewable energy equipment lifetime, which is generally around 15-20 years.

Omega helps the customer evaluate the best energy efficiency measures and the most attractive renewable energy technology for specific locations and available resources.

Omega provides Renewable Technology solutions in the following areas:

  • Biomass to Energy: Conversion of Biomass to either Heat, Steam, SynGas, BioGas and/or Electricity using Pyrolysis, Gasification, Plasma-Arc, Anaerobic Digestion or Combustion energy conversion processes.
  • Photovoltaic Sun to Energy: Conversion of Sun to Electricity using solar PV panels, battery storage and DC to AC inverters.
  • Thermal Sun to Energy: Conversion of Sun to Heat (Hot Water) using solar collectors, battery storage and DC to AC inverters.
  • Wind to Energy: Conversion of Small Wind (less than 100kWe) to Electricity using wind turbines, battery storage and DC to AC inverters.

About 10% of U.S. electricity was generated from renewable sources in 2009.

Renewable energy is not subject to sharp price changes because it comes from sources such as sunshine, flowing water, wind, and biological waste, all of which are free.

Biomass is currently the largest U.S. renewable energy source with more than 200 existing biopower plants now providing electricity for 1.5 million American homes.

Every hour on the Earth's surface falls enough solar energy to meet world energy needs for an entire year.

Distributed generation is a new renewable energy trend in the generation of heat and electrical power.
